US General Accounting Office
441 G Street NW, Room LM
Washington, DC 20548
We, the undersigned, support Sen. Charles
Grassley (R-Iowa), chairman of the Committee on
Energy and Commerce, request of the General
Accounting Office, (GAO), examination of CDC's
contracting procedures.
We ask further of the GAO to assist the American
people and force reform through federal
accountability. Specifically, concerning the
cooperate take-over of hepatitis C funding, and
the numerous "other" GAO, CDC investigations to
correct the many problems within the nations
only source for public health awareness.
We ask the GAO to examine the Department of
Human Health Services' (DHHS) and the Office of
Management and Budget (OMB)
-
OMB is ignoring fundamental public health
goals to control exposures well before
causing functional impairment.
-
OMB's definition of risk assessment is too
broad and in conflict with long-established
concepts and practices.
-
OMB is forcing a political verses science
DHHS public health policy through
questionable reorganization practices at the
CDC, resulting in a possible conflict of the
fiduciary responsibility to the American
public.
-
The above government agencies lack
accountability for handling of the HCV
epidemic and is worthy of an oversight
investigation.
The
GAO's immediate attention to this matter will
save lives!
Sincerely,
An American Citizen that deserves a better
Public Health System. |
